Color Purple Next Generation - Block of the Month
Want to learn re-hooping, appliqué in the hoop and combining designs in the hoop? We have scheduled classes for the first three blocks and the center block, if you want to continue with the remaining blocks as a group, we will schedule the others. Come by and see our completed sample blocks.

Embellished Jacket Fabric
We will Create, Embellish and combine techniques to create fabric for a Jacket or vest using our favorite pattern or your favorite Jacket pattern that has no darts or Princess Seams. We will have a sample on display for you to see.  The most important thing is to learn the techniques.

Heirloom Sewing Notebook Class
The Heirloom Sewing Notebook Class is for anyone who wants to learn heirloom techniques.  During the class you will make a notebook complete with samples you create. Heirloom techniques include working with laces, Entrdeaux, pintucks and more. This reference notebook will be an invaluable resource for years to come.

• Saturday, September 27, 2008 – 10:00am – 3:00pm or
• Saturday, October 25, 2008 – 10:00am – 3:00pm
• Class Fee - $45.00

Hooping & Stabilizing Tips
If you need help with the proper use of stabilizers and proper hooping techniques then you will want this class. All embroidery machine owners are welcome. This will be a hands-on class; we will hoop and sew a T-shirt and a towel.  If you have an item that you are having difficulty with bring it and we will try to help you resolve it.

• September 13^th – 10:00am-12:30pm or
• September 16^th – 12:30pm-3:00pm
• Class fee: $25.00 includes some thread with a kit.

We are excited to announce a monthly club party.  Bernina Club and Color Purple Block of the Month clubs will now meet on the same days back to back. You do not have to have a Bernina Machine to attend, everyone is welcome.

VIRTUAL BERNINA CLUB
We are excited about this new program from Bernina – Each month Bernina will present a Live Video Conference program with exciting tips and techniques along with a project. You will receive a CD with all the detailed instructions along with live video clips.

  MIXED MEDIA MANIA – Create unique backgrounds in either painted or fiber form to be used for decorative stitch work.  Use favorite decorative stitches alone or in conjunction with embroidery schemes to create beautiful and unique items.

• September 26th – 10:45 am
  Elegant Edgings – Finishing touches take something from ordinary to extraordinary.  Edgings for clothing, ome dcor and quilts all benefit from pretty edges finishes.  Using our creative sewing stitches and tools we will create hose special details that really make a statement.

BERNINA My Label 3d Fashion Pattern Software Demo
With the unique ability to see before you sew, the new My Label 3D Fashion Pattern Software from Bernina, referred to as My Label, creates customized patterns based on a person’s specific body measurements.  After entering initial body measurements and customizing fabric and embroidery options, the 3D mannequin realistically displays how the garment will look before the pattern is finalized and the fabric is cut.

 My label users can choose from 20 traditional garment patterns, including pants, skirts, tops and jackets.  Once an outfit is designed, the final step is printing the pattern on a home printer or sending it to a local copy shop for printing on a plotter.  My label software can store multiple profiles, which is a useful feature for women who sew for multiple family members or who own a small business.

 Margaret has made several garments using My Label. Come by to see her garments.  They fit wonderfully!  Sign up for one of our Demo Classes to see how easy it is to create a pattern that will fit you perfectly.  We will start with showing you how to take measurements to printing a pattern.

MASTERING YOUR ARTISTA V5.0 SOFTWARE
Bernina embroidery software is the most powerful yet easiest to use home embroidery software available. With Version 5, new features and enhancements make it easier than ever to realize your embroidery designing dreams.  No matter what level software you own you will want to attend this class. This is an awesome and powerful program and if you own either level you will want to use it to the fullest. Remember these are free classes if your software was purchased at Southern Sewing.

• Class Fee - $35.00 per class
• Mondays - 9:00 am-12:00 pm or 5:30p - 8:30p
• September 8 - October 6 (Number of classes depends on the level of Software you have)

NOTE: These are valuable hands on classes; it is highly recommended that you bring your laptop to class for all of the Embroidery Software Classes. These are hands-on classes; we have a few laptop computers we can rent for $10.00 a class. You may also attend without a computer as we do have a big screen.

Upgrade Information:
If you currently own versions 1 thru 4 this is your opportunity to upgrade to version 5 for the same price as the an upgrade from version 4 to version 5.

BERNINA MACHINE MASTERY
These regularly scheduled classes are designed to help you thoroughly learn your machine. Embroidery Module classes are listed for the respective machine(s). These classes can be taken in any order, and are free if you purchased your Bernina from Southern Sewing Center. .

• Class Fee: $50 per class (If not purchased from Southern Sewing)

• Kit Fee: $5

• Number of classes depend on the model of your machine.  Use the matrix below to determine the classes appropriate for your Bernina.

NOTE: Mastery classes are not open enrollment, you must register in advance.
